I felt like I needed a fresh new festive tea towel design! Not that I was unhappy with the ones I already had but I'm such a sucker for some Christmas bling that I just had to do a new one!
So I went to where I usually find my inspiration....nature! I always feel like the festive season is upon us when the warm weather is starting and the blossoms are blooming! And I do have a soft spot for flowering gums so with some simplified drawing on some scraps of lino, I then got busy doing some quick carving!
Of course I had to test the little blocks first so whatever is to hand in the scraps/ready to print box comes out! First test is to check if the block needed much cleaning up or if I liked how it might print. Then for placement...and yes I do like a wreath for a festive tea towel! Pretty happy with the first go. More fabric to play with and use some left over metallic ink I'd mixed for an earlier project and yes, happy with that too! These tests never go to waste - they'll likely end up as a small wall hanging.
Now that the tests have been done it's time to get my tea towels washed, pressed and ready to print! Yay!
